I am a Computer Science student at Harvey Mudd College, striving to become an innovative software engineer with a clear understanding of the impact of my work on society. I enjoy working in a team and keeping a work log for future reference. I believe that scientific innovations and community work are crucial for both of them can yield a wide impact due to the rich connections it requires among people, and enhancing this interconnectedness is what I strive for in my work.
Having suffered from complications when I was contaminated by my eyemask, I patented a type of recovery mask which allows patients to redress the wound without taking off the mask to avoid contaminations. It also reduces swelling and relieves the pain through cold compress and partial massage.
The new type of trash bin separates liquid and solid garbage automatically, therefore reducing the difficulty of cleaning the trash bin, and slowing down garbage corruption to avoid unpleasant smells. Environmentally friendly physical billbaords and energy-saving LED displayers are implemented to save energy.
As a person who loves travel, I designed a portable reconfigurable power strip to keep all my devices charged at all times. The multi-layer nested power strip comprises a four-stage telescopic rod and four layers of power strip with jacks on their sides. The number of jacks can be changed based on people's needs.
This website is a personal website that I built to practice coding skills, search for work opportunities, and meet new friends.
View DetailsAs a research assistant at Harvey Mudd College in summer 2020, I collaborated with a team of four students and two professors to come up with the design and requirements of empress application. I have developed a graphical user interface for empress application using Python and Tkinter. Empress is a software tool that uses the duplication-transfer-loss model to find the most probable way two species lived together in the past. I used Git/GitHub for source control and participated in rigorous code review process throughout application development. Publication: Santichaivekin Santi, Qing Yang. 2020. eMPRess: A Systematic Cophylogeny Reconciliation Tool. Bioinformatics (BIOINF-2020-1780). Submitted.
